RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman Announces Appointments (RNC Press Release) : 03-10-2005
RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman today announced the appointment of the Chairman of the Republican Finance Committee and his appointments to the Executive, Budget, and Resolutions Committees.
"I am very proud to have these extremely talented individuals working to help guide the RNC." Chairman Mehlman said. "The remarkable dedication of these people represents the kind of leadership that ensures that the Republican Party continues to be the party of new ideas and vision for the future."
Chairman Mehlman has appointed Dwight Schar as Finance Chairman. Schar, a resident of McLean, Virginia, is chairman of the Board and chief executive officer of NVR, Inc. NVR is the sixth largest homebuilder in the United States. He has been a longtime philanthropist for children's charities and has been an instrumental figure in the higher education community. Schar has also been appointed to the President's Advisory Committee on the Arts for the Kennedy Center. Schar's nomination is subject to confirmation by the full RNC at the 2005 Summer Meeting.
Ron Kaufman has been asked to continue as Chairman of the Budget Committee. Kaufman is a National Committeeman from Massachusetts with a long history of support for the Republican Party, including serving as Senior Field Director for George H.W. Bush's 1980 Presidential Campaign, RNC National Political Director, RGA Finance Chairman, and a member of the Standing Committee on Rules. He is senior Managing Partner of The Dutko Group.
Blake Hall has been re-appointed to serve as Chairman of the Resolutions Committee. Hall is a National Committeeman from Idaho. He has served the party extensively in a variety of roles. Recently, he has served as Chairman of the Committee on Contests for the 2004 Republican National Convention. Hall was also the Sergeant at Arms for the 2000 Republican National Convention. He is currently a partner at Anderson, Nelson, Hall and Smith.
Carol Jean Jordan has been re-appointed as Chairman of the State Chairmen. Jordan is currently Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and has served on the RNC Standing Committee on Rules and the RNC Redistricting Task Force. She is co-owner of Jordan Irrigation and Landscape, Inc., in Vero Beach Florida.
Ann Wagner has been appointed to the Executive Committee after serving as co-chair of the Republican National Committee since 2001. Wagner's successful tenure as co-chair included the development of the acclaimed Winning Women initiative, aimed toward communicating the party's positive message to women. She was the first woman elected as Chairman of the Missouri Republican Party and is currently serving her fourth term.
Lilly Nunez has been re-appointed to the Executive Committee. Nunez is a National Committeewoman from Colorado. She has served as a member of the RNC Executive Committee, Rules Committee and Committee on Arrangements. Governor Bill Owens appointed her in 2000 as Elector to Colorado for George W. Bush.
Winston Wilkinson has also been re-appointed to the Executive Committee. Wilkinson is a National Committeeman from Utah. He has served the RNC on both the Executive Committee and the Committee on Arrangements. Wilkinson is a former Salt Lake County Council Member and is a Presidential appointee to the Air Force Academy of Visitors.
Zori Fonalledas has been asked to continue her service on the Budget Committee. Fonalledas is a National Committeewoman from Puerto Rico. She has served on the RNC Budget and Rules Committees and has been a member of the RNC Committee on Arrangements. Fonalledas is currently on the Board of Directors for the International Institute for People with Disabilities of Puerto Rico.
Travis Thompson has been appointed to serve on the Budget Committee. Thompson is a National Committeeman from Hawaii. He has served as Hawaii Finance Chair for Bush-Cheney 2004 and has been a member of the Standing Committee on Rules and Committee on Arrangements. Thompson is currently director of the Housing and Community Development Corporation of Hawaii.
